Housing
Can Uppsala University provide me with housing?
Uppsala University offers a housing guarantee for some student groups. Only fee-paying master students and exchange students under formal exchange agreements (including Erasmus, Nordplus, Tempus, Alfa and Linneaus-Palme students) are covered by the housing guarantee. The housing guarantee means that fee-paying master students can apply to be provided with housing by the university. The housing guarantee is for two semesters, then students are expected to find housing on their own. Students included in the housing guarantee are still required to pay for the housing provided. The rent is approximately 3000-4000 SEK each month.
How can I find housing?
Uppsala University is a popular university which leads to a shortage of housing. This means that you cannot expect to arrange housing on arrival. Uppsala University does not have "university housing" as is common in many places outside Sweden. Student housing is provided by a number of private companies. Information about these companies can be found here. Register on the websites of the different housing companies to start collecting queue days that can be used to apply for housing. Students should be prepared to devote some time and effort to finding housing. A good option for students looking to find housing quickly is to sublet a room or apartment. Ads for rooms and apartments available to sublet can be found on Studentboet. General housing information is also available on our website.
